Good news web developers and designers around the world, 2012 has started off on the right foot. For according the latest data from Net Applications, IE6 usage in the US has now officially dropped below 1%!
IE6 has been a burden for a while, and everyone has been eager to see it go away. Furthermore, The IE Team launched the IE6 Countdown site last March to help accelerate the process. Less than a year later, the United States has joined the champions in dropping below 1% usage of IE6. Hopefully now more developers and IT Pros will start consider IE6 a “low-priority” and stop spending their time having to support such an outdated browser.
So as 2012 kicks off with such good news, hope this new year will be the end of IE6 and let this year’s resolution be to move to a modern browser like IE8 or IE9. You can go to IE6Countdown.com for additional details and resources on how to achieve this.
